Saul Ronsayro: Super Powerds (outside readings 1)
To give some background on this book, it is able people with super powers going to college. There is so much more to it than just that, but that is the basics of the story. Now, this is not an academic text, but there is so much to learn from it. It follows the story of mainly four people, one of whom is named Vince. Vince's power is basically he can absorb every type of energy and then shoot it out, which makes him terrified. He grew up not being able to control his powers, causing him to live in the wilderness and avoid people out of fear of hurting them. He also avidly avoided hospitals in fear of taking all of their power. Throughout the course of his four years, he slowly learned to both control his powers and his fears over them. He understood that he could cause catastrophic harm with them, but he realized he can do so much good with them that it became his calling. This is one of the most simple, yet total, hero's journeys O have ever seen. The entire series ended with him saying you cant help people without first helping yourself, which is something that I wholeheartedly agree with.
