Saul Ronsayro: Ready Player one (outside reading 5)

Ready Player One has quickly become one of the most notable books of recent years, being both a book now taught in school and a book that became a major motion picture. The book follows yet another hero's journey to finding love and acceptance. Wade, the main character, goes from a nobody to the most famous person in the world in a matter of minutes, which makes him feel alone. A common trend among the rich and famous, mainly the famous, is that they are left with very few close friends due to the nature of their entire lives being public. But at the same, this was happening to Wade; he was falling in love. One of the last things we discussed in class was the topic of love, which I view in this sense as finding the other half of yourself. While this is a Jewish tradition, it applies to Wade's meeting with Samantha. Overall, this story combines the hero's journey with one of finding your true self through meeting someone else.
