Saul Ronsayro: Music (my choice 2)
This isn't just a book, but one of my favorite series and a topic I wrote on for this class. I am writing about this because the author releases the books, chapter by chapter, on Patreon every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is important because the story arc is nearing completion, with the start of the final book, and it begins by recapping the hero's story. I like to consider myself a musical person, both in what type of music I enjoy and the type I perform. Recently, it has been the time at CNU when all of the music students have their junior and senior recitals, where they get to showcase just how great of a musician they are. I want to bring this up because one of my fraternity brothers recently had his, and the piece he ended his recital with showed me something I'm not entirely sure how to put into words. It was a piece played by two musicians on one marimba, each playing one-half of the song. The way hearing and, most importantly, seeing it made me feel; it's like realizing that what's on the outside is not always the case. When hearing it, there was no way to tell that it was two musicians on one instrument, but rather, it was the whole melody. Then, when you open your eyes, you see that there is so much more to it: more work, more depth, more meaning, and just more feeling. It makes you question the way you perceive the world.
