Sanai Williams: Concept of a Cat (My choosing)

 In class we discussed the scale of not real to real. It goes like this:

Shadows-->Bodies-->Concepts-->Form

I find it interesting how anything can be categorized into this method. For example, cats are forms, but what makes us think of a cat that separates it from other animals is our own individual concepts of a cat: Two pointy ears, round face, button nose, and those iconic eyes. There is much more that reminds us of cats too, but what separates cats form big cats or even wild cats? Then we have an idea of size and temperament. They also come in many different colors that we recognize and personalities. Concepts for everything we have is so vast but are very specific for every form we have encountered. I simply love cats, and defining their concept for myself makes me love and appreciate them more.
