Iris Denner: The Calling (Assigned Readings)
From what we have read and talked about in class, one cannot ignore a calling. If they ignore a calling, then their life gets worse until they answer the calling. They can try to put it off, but it will keep coming back and reminding them that it is still incomplete. This reminds me of the cycle of grief. One cannot ignore their grief but rather needs to tackle it head on in order to grieve properly. If they do not, they experience feelings of anger, resentment, sadness, and other negative emotions. The movie we watched that had the man finding his parents gravesite in Northern Europe started by showing how he had put off this calling for years and it just made him bitter.
