Gabe Snyder Blog 12 - Gilgamesh (Required Reading)

Gilgamesh is one of the oldest, yet still most prominent examples of a hero in human culture and storytelling. His character progression from a cocky, murderous ruler to a more humble hero, teaming up with the wild Enkidu and becoming distraught over Enkidu's death makes this character a legend that still maintains relevance in the cultural sphere of storytelling. Gilgamesh and Enkidu showcase an aspect of heroism that I feel as though we didn't touch on much, which was the idea of a hero and his companion, the character that makes the main character long for more adventure, comforting them on their journey and guiding them.
