Emma Scott: The Uncharted Way [St. Brendan the Navigator] (outside reading)

     This particular journey outlines how pilgrims leave everything that is familiar to them and seek out a foreign land to worship Christ. What qualities are required to be able to up and leave everything you have ever grown up knowing? Brendan's journey takes place in the sea and is also known as the search for the happy otherworld. While this was a religious endeavor, there were parts that were so realistic and involved real geography that people like Columbus referenced Brendan's journey. The journey was both external and internal. Barinthus and his journey was what prompted Brendan to consider going on a a journey at see. How many people was Brendan able to recruit on this journey and did anyone end up dying? While he followed in the footsteps as Barinthus he went out and was able to discover something new and start anew.
