Emma Scott: The Journey of Fear (Personal Topic)
All through my life I have been a very worrisome person. I can still remember being a little girl and making my twin brother do everything first to make sure he survived. The first example that comes to mind is when I made him go off the diving board first. Once, I saw him swim to the ladder, after the jump I had the courage to jump off the diving board myself. My brother has always been the one person who could encourage and convince me to do things outside of my comfort zone. Even to this day with us going to the same college he still finds ways to support and encourage me. I am still a worrisome person today, but I have learned how to try new things and push myself outside of my comfort zone.
This honors class has taught me that fear is a part of the hero's journey and it is inevitable no matter who you are. Listening to all of the amazing stories and adventures that people in our class and professor Redick has been a part of has given me a glimpse of everything that the world has to offer. It also has inspired me to start on my own personal journey and to always remember to try new things. I have also learned that there are always people all over the world who are willing and wanting to show you the way of their lives. There is so much to learn if you allow yourself to take people up on those opportunities.
