Emma Scott: “In Baghdad, Dreaming of Cairo; In Cairo, Dreaming of Baghdad” (outside reading)

In this blog entry I will be deciphering what this poem means to me and the bigger hidden message behind it. Do not be afraid to hide your true self and emotions. Let your opinion be known and do not hide from who you truly are. If those around you are not supportive then it is time to cut ties and move forward without them. In order to grow and prosper one may need to leave the comfort of familiarity. Truth is only revealed once trials and tribulations have been overcome. Some people are born with wealth but go about using it in the wrong ways, while others begin their lives with nothing but through hard work achieve more than those born with advantages. Once your biggest battles have been fought you find the purpose of life. Why are some people’s trials too much for them to handle? Who gets to decide what challenge someone faces? For people who are not religious, who plays God's role? It could potentially be viewed as the universe is what decides and the cosmos.
