Emma Scott: Finding Meaning While Stepping in the Camino Cauldron (outside reading)
Just like how every person has their own internal journey, everyone leaves home for different reasons. People leave their homes to embark on their journeys typically because the person has felt some sort of alienation in their lives. What is the difference between one of these journeys and a touristic vacation? A touristic vacation is typically to embrace a different culture and immerse yourself into another world, but there is generally a finish line. The alienation mentioned previously can take different forms depending on if you are religious or not. If you are typically sin is what constitutes alienation especially when they allow many sins to build up. Alienation is separation in relationships which is why on these pilgrim journeys strong bonds and connections are formed. Do preconceived notions have a positive or negative impact/connotation? Interpretations of things change from the first initial interpretation and can shift/change multiple times as new ideas and experiences are presented.
