Amber Samsel: Just Some Thoughts (Req. 3) - Blog 12

How is an interior journey for everyone? How is everyone the main focus in an interior journey? I thought interior journeys were supposed to be about the self, self-transformation, and meditation? In my notes, interior journeys also involve growing with an other, but isn't that still focused more so on the individual? Aren't they the one who needs to grow hence the self-transformation?

Exterior journeys being for everyone makes a little more sense because in exterior journeys where someone is moving from one place to another, they meet everyone else along the way and it becomes a community. But, doesn't that mean there is still one main character? The person who moved? The people who are already in the new place are still just the background characters because they are not in the process of an exterior journey.

Perhaps I am just overthinking both of these, or taking them too literally, but it seems to me that both interior and exterior journeys still have a main character. The thing is, since everyone goes through their own journeys, everyone is participating. That doesn't mean that everyone is the main focus, because everyone could go on their own Hero's journey and be the "main character," so I'm failing to see how the Hero's journey is self-centered and interior and exterior journeys are for everyone.
