Adair Rader- Human Spirituality

In class, we discussed what constitutes man's substance. It is a question that humans have been asking throughout time, "Who am I? What makes me who I am?" We collectively reached the conclusion that man's capacity for spiritual experience is what constitutes his substance, rather than his sensuality. I think that is a compelling argument. Physical sensations are temporary but man's spiritual capacity remains with him. That means that if we want to live the good life, or a fulfilling life, we must strive to satisfy our spiritual capacity. This is backed by scientific evidence, as the NIH has published "The results of a multilevel regression analysis suggest that religious individuals are on average happier and more satisfied with life than non-religious individuals".
