Emily Griffin Introduction to Myths
Page 3 Paragraph 2 Of "The Hero with a Thousand Faces"
"Myth is the opening through which inexhaustible energies of the cosmos pour into human cultural manifestation."
Chapter 1 Departure notes
There are important basic facts to understand before diving into myths. First is the aspects of the world. The Cosmos is the order of the universe, outside of the Cosmos is chaos/ no order. Then there are the four stages of the mythological journey. The first stage is the call to adventure, the second is the refusal of the call, the third is the presence of supernatural aid, and the crossing of the threshold. Then there is the clarification that myth is not an explanation but an analogy to help us better understand ancient events that occurred.
